Contributor Bios

Francis Bass (“The Ones I Used to Know”) is an undergraduate student at the University of Iowa, though he is a native of Tallahassee, Florida. His work has appeared in Reckoning, Dramatics, and the 2014 Thespian Playworks anthology, and he has self-published several short stories and plays.

Kyrie Burson (Beast) recently graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s in Film & Media Arts. Although “Beast” is her first submission, she’s been writing screenplays for over two years. When not crafting screenplays or intricate Dungeons & Dragons plots, she writes entries for her mother’s family blog, Family Matters, which can be found at familymattrs.com

Sean Hendrickson (“Le Petit Mort”) is a writer and director with his roots in Chicago, but he’s currently based as a theatre educator in Nanjing, China. If you’re interested in reading or watching more of Sean’s work, you can contact him through his website.

 Sophie Katz (“Timber”) is a recent graduate from the University of Iowa, where she studied Creative Writing, Psychology, and Theatre. A storyteller at heart, Sophie is currently pursuing her dreams of writing for Disney.

Donna Latham (“She Said”) is an award-winning playwright in the wild. Her plays have been produced coast to coast and in Northern Ireland, Ireland, England, France, and Indonesia. Most Wretched Deathbed Fever Dreams of Edgar Allan Poe earned the Design Storm Collaboration Award at Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, where Donna was a guest artist. Be Bold, Be Bold received the Silver Award at the HearNow Festival. The new play Suffer A Witch received a staged reading during RSPC’s Governor’s Island Residency and also at Williams Street Rep in the Chicago area. In spring 2019, it premieres at Houston’s Company OnStage. And We Will Share the Sky was a KCACTF David Mark Cohen Playwriting Award Finalist and recipient of the National Theatre for Young Audiences Playwriting Award from the University of Central Missouri. The Haunted Widow Lincoln, which went up at the Batavia Arts Council and Rover Dramawerks in Plano, Texas, was a semi-finalist for the Playwrights First Award and the Vittum Prize. It had readings with the Bechdel Group in NYC, Houston Scriptwriters, and the Civic Theatre of Lafayette. Coyote’s Moon went up at the La MaMa Theatre 50 Block Party in New York. Donna’s short plays are included in The Best American Short Plays 2016-2017, The Best American Short Plays 2014-2015, and 2016’s Best Ten-Minute Plays anthologies. Julia Levine (“Our Food at Work”) is a theatre artist and producer based in New York City. She is Artistic Producer of The Arctic Cycle, a theatre non-profit that fosters dialogue and action on climate issues through the arts. With The Arctic Cycle, Julia co-organizes the international biennial Climate Change Theatre Action and writes for the online platform Artists & Climate Change. She is Marketing Manager at HERE and has worked as a director or administrator with companies including Superhero Clubhouse, Theater In Asylum, and The TEAM. Julia creates with her performance-based initiative, The UPROOT Series, to bring questions of food, climate, and justice into everyday life.

Zephin Livingston (“Roundabout”) is a writer from Dothan, Alabama. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa and currently lives in Seattle.

August Magee (“Catching Up with Mr. Apple…”) is a director and screenwriter based in Atlanta, Georgia. He studied at the University of Iowa in Cinema and Theatre with a focus in writing. Some of his work can be seen on YouTube in the sketch series No Rush Theater, as well as his own channel.

Rex McGregor (I Love an Earthling) is a New Zealand playwright. His short comedies have been produced on four continents from New York and London to Sydney and Chennai. His most popular play, Threatened Panda Fights Back, has had over a dozen productions. Rex has a Master of Arts (Honors) in Languages and Literatures from the University of Auckland and is currently a senior collections librarian at Auckland Libraries.

Raised in Oviedo, Florida, Allan Zeng (Nokto Viro) received a BA in English and Theatre Arts from the University of Iowa. During his three years of study, his writing was produced and published in events and periodicals such as the Iowa New Play Festival and Ink Lit Mag. Currently, Allan is living in Central Florida. He is a part of the film group Alabaster Effect, where he has worked as a writer and an actor.
